The Hills are Alive…

Summit All Star has always been about excellence, climbing the summit of success and reaping its rewards. In 2024, Edinburgh, with its seven hills, much like that of ancient Rome, is the place where All Stars will gather and celebrate their 2023 accomplishments.

The hills of Edinburgh are equally famous to their Roman counterparts. Calton Hill, Castle Rock, Corstorphine Hill, Craiglockart Hill, Braid Hill, Blackford Hill and Arthur’s Seat. (Actually, a few of these locations have more than one hill, but no matter.)

The volcanic Castle Rock is probably its most famous as Edinburgh Castle sits squarely on its top, a landmark to beat all Scottish sites.

Good Things Come in Small Packages

Both of our Summit All Star hotels in Edinburgh are mere blocks apart and share a love of Scottish hospitality, luxury accommodations and historic backgrounds. The George is a collection of five, lovely Georgian townhouses that were originally built in the 18th century but the property has been a grand hotel, historically known as “The George,” since 1881.

The Kimpton Charlotte Square overlooks one of Edinburgh’s prettiest private garden squares, as well as consists of interconnected Georgian townhouses, seven to be exact. Outside is where you’ll find Edinburgh’s New Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Two by Two…

Summit All Star will feature two program dates: April 10-15, 2024, and April 17-22, 2024. The programs are identical with every individual and group activity offered during both dates. In this way, Summit All Stars will enjoy a smaller, more intimate group experience.

The same is true for our host hotels with The George and the Kimpton both pleasantly cozy. Upon registration, Summit All Star program dates and corresponding hotel assignments will be arranged to keep franchises together for you to enjoy your colleagues and their one official guests. We understand that some members may prefer certain dates or hotels, however, we hope you appreciate that our Edinburgh location is uniquely geared to smaller groups and our priority is to keep our franchises together.

InterContinental The George

Summit All Star has selected two of Edinburgh’s finest hotels that will serve to enhance your Scottish experience. Both offer their own respective history, ambiance and a stay at either comes with lovely guestrooms, exquisite dining and locations that are near Edinburgh’s famous landmarks.

The George has quite a remarkable background dating back 200 years. Located in the New Town area of Edinburgh (sort of a misnomer as it is quite historic), this elegant establishment was enjoyed by literary legends such as the iconic Scottish poet Robert Burns and author Sir Walter Scott and one of the townhouses was even home to Scotland’s answer to Jane Austin – Susan Ferrier.

The Kimpton Charlotte Square

The Kimpton Charlotte Square is perched on the edge of a picturesque private garden also located in Edinburgh’s New Town. Another city gem, this lovely hotel blends traditional glamour with the Scotland of today. Outside, a classical Georgian exterior stands as an ode to the past while inside, just past the lobby, a glass-topped central courtyard is nearly always abuzz with activity.

From the very inception of Charlotte Square in 1791, it was anticipated it would be one of the top addresses in Edinburgh. As the Victorian era commenced, the square was increasingly occupied by the elite of the middle class: legal and medical professionals.

Where Comfort is Key

Both host hotels will see that our Summit All Stars are well rested for the adventure that Edinburgh offers. Guestrooms at both hotels offer the comfort that will be welcomed after days of individual and group events, as well as leisure nights guests and All-Star friends.

The George’s rooms take their color palette from 19th century Scottish landscape paintings invoking Highland glens to forest ferns and mountain heathers. The classic accommodations highlight restful sleep in sumptuous beds, as well as spa-like bathrooms and accessories. Complimentary Wi-Fi, tea and fresh coffee are guestroom standards.

Hotel Dining, from Eats to Sweets

Who would guess that one of the Kimpton’s renowned restaurant cooks its specialties over a charcoal grill, much less in Edinburgh. Baba is a George Street dining destination in its own right offering inventive cooking that blends Middle Eastern with Scottish influences. Their unique menu turns out Scottish lamb, beef and seafood; the flavors are unexpected and the ambiance is definitely surprising.

Aizle is the Kimpton’s additional award-winning restaurant where a six-course tasting meal gives a fleeting snapshot of the season. Aizle’s interiors are as unique as its sampling menu and the globetrotting wine list shines a light on smaller producers.

And Now for the Latest Forecast…

April in Edinburgh is one of the prettiest times to visit as the city’s parks, gardens and green spaces are bursting with flowers. There’s no better season to explore the nooks and crannies of this lovely place where cherry blossom-lined walkways and abundant sunshine is generally at play.

Spring is also one of the driest periods of the year with daylight matching that of summer months. Mild temperatures make for great touring and the outdoor markets come to life.

April is the sweet spot of spring with temps in the mid-50s during the day, but there is still a chill in the nighttime air which hovers around 40 degrees.
